Last updated: 1 June 2026

Math College (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides online SQA maths tutoring to students across Scotland. We take your privacy seriously and handle your personal information in line with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have. If you have any questions, contact us at arkanmeg01@gmail.com.

The data controller responsible for your information is Math College, [POSTAL ADDRESS].

What information we collect

We only collect the information we need to respond to you and deliver tutoring. Depending on how you use our site, this may include:

  • Enquiry details you give us through our contact and booking forms: your name, email address, phone number, your child’s school year or SQA level, and any message you send us.
  • Tutor application details if you apply to tutor with us: your name, contact details, and the CV or covering letter you upload.
  • Free guide requests if you ask for our free SQA revision guide: your name and email address.
  • Technical information collected automatically when you browse the site, such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, through cookies and analytics.

Children’s privacy

Most of our students are under 18. Where tutoring is arranged for a child, we expect the enquiry and consent to come from a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 16 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without that consent, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and answer your questions;
  • arrange your free first lesson and match your child with a suitable tutor;
  • deliver and manage tutoring sessions;
  • send you the free SQA revision guide, if you requested it;
  • keep records of the service we provide; and
  • maintain and improve our website.

Our legal basis for processing

Under the UK GDPR we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent, for example when you ask us to send you the free revision guide. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests, such as responding to your enquiry and matching students with tutors, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Performance of a contract, where we are arranging or delivering tutoring you have requested.

Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of cookies to make the website work and to understand how visitors use it. We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated statistics about site usage, such as which pages are most popular. This helps us improve the site. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings.

Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary:

  • With our tutors, who deliver lessons to your child and need relevant details to do so.
  • With service providers who help us run the business, such as our website hosting, email, and analytics providers, who process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements.
  • Where required by law, for example to comply with a legal obligation or to protect someone’s safety.

International transfers

Some of our service providers, including our website host, may store or process data on servers located outside the UK. Where information is transferred outside the UK, we take steps to ensure it is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or an equivalent legal mechanism.

How long we keep your information

We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this policy, or as long as the law requires. Enquiry records are kept while we are in contact and for a reasonable period afterwards, then securely deleted. Tutor application details are kept only as long as needed to consider your application.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information in certain circumstances;
  • ask us to restrict or object to how we use your information;
  • request a copy of your information in a portable format; and
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at arkanmeg01@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you are unhappy with how we have handled your information.

How we protect your information

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to keep your information secure, including a secure (HTTPS) website and restricted access to personal data. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date.
