Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 June 2026

These terms apply when you book or use tutoring provided by Math College (“we”, “us”, “our”). By booking a lesson with us, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully. If you are arranging tutoring for a child, you accept these terms on their behalf.

About our service

Math College provides one-to-one online maths tutoring for students sitting SQA qualifications, including National 5, Higher, and Advanced Higher Maths, across Scotland. Lessons are delivered live over the internet by a tutor matched to the student.

Booking and your free first lesson

We offer a free first lesson so you can see whether tutoring suits your child before you commit. There is no charge and no payment details are required for the free first lesson. After the free lesson, you can choose to continue with paid sessions.

When you make an enquiry, we will arrange a suitable time and match your child with a tutor. Bookings are confirmed once a time and tutor are agreed.

Fees and payment

Our tutoring is charged at a flat rate of £35 per hour, the same for every SQA level. This is the total cost: there is no registration fee, no platform fee, and no cancellation charge.

Payment is due in advance of sessions, either per session or in agreed blocks. [CONFIRM exact payment timing and accepted payment methods.] We will tell you clearly how and when to pay before any paid session takes place.

Cancellations and rescheduling

If you need to cancel or rearrange a session, please give us at least 24 hours’ notice [CONFIRM notice period] so the time can be offered to another student. Sessions cancelled with less than this notice may be charged in full. If we ever need to cancel or rearrange a session, we will give you as much notice as possible and offer an alternative time at no extra cost.

Tutor matching and changes

We match your child with a tutor based on their level, needs, and learning style. If the match is not right, let us know and we will do our best to arrange an alternative tutor. From time to time we may need to change your tutor, for example due to availability; we will arrange a suitable replacement where this happens.

Safeguarding

The welfare of students is important to us. Every Math College tutor holds a current PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) disclosure before working with any student. We ask that an appropriate adult is contactable during sessions involving younger students, and we expect tutors and students to behave respectfully towards one another at all times.

Your responsibilities

To get the most from online tutoring, you are responsible for providing a suitable device, a reasonable internet connection, and a quiet space for the session. For younger students, we recommend a parent or guardian is nearby and aware of when sessions take place.

Lesson materials and intellectual property

Any materials we share during or after a session are provided for the personal use of the student only. They remain our property or that of their original creators and may not be copied, shared, resold, or distributed without our permission.

No guarantee of results

Our tutors are experienced SQA maths specialists and we work hard to help every student improve. However, results depend on many factors, including the student’s own effort. We cannot and do not guarantee any specific exam grade or outcome.

Limitation of liability

We provide our tutoring with reasonable care and skill. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of our service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Privacy

We handle your personal information in line with our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and how we use it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page with a revised “last updated” date.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
